Clinical/Research Interests: Translational and outcomes research related to health care disparities, cardiothoracic surgery, trauma/acute care surgery, and plastic surgery; research and development partnerships between academia, industry, and/or government
Why University of Arizona: I was drawn to the new, dynamic leadership team, which is focused on creating positive cultural change in surgery and which I felt would fully support me as a resident. I new that the University of Arizona would provide me the ability to train in a multitude of high-volume clinical settings (i.e., academic, private, VA, community/underserved, international) and to learn from faculty and cases that cover the breadth of general surgery. Both the institution and the department of surgery put a premium on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Most importantly, the people here are phenomenal.
