The Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson
The Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Arizona and the Banner – University Medical Center Tucson is a family of reconstructive plastic surgeons who are dedicated to the delivery of exemplary reconstructive surgical care; the education of faculty, trainees and support personnel; and the participation in clinical research and quality initiatives to further improve the care delivered to those we serve.
The vision of the Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is to:
- Build expansive programming that includes all domains of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
- Build a complement of collegial and competent surgeons as the core personnel that allows for the delivery of care in all domains of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
- Build surgical personnel and surgical volumes to support an independent plastic surgery residency training program.
- Develop quality initiatives that promote discriminating inquiry into current practice to propel inoovation and improvement in care strategies for the future.
I am excited and honored to be extended the opportunity to build the plastic and reconstructive surgery program at the Banner – University Medical Center. My previous experiences building two cleft-craniofacial programs and a plastic surgery residency program have provided a solid foundation for this new challenge, which I eagerly accept. The opportunity here is unique, unlike any other I am aware of, not only in the scope of the challenge, but also in the support extended from the university and the hospital. Our origin story will similarly be unique, but it is one that I am proud to lead and negotiate as we become what I believe will be a top tier program not only in clinical reconstructive plastic surgery, but also in resident and medical student education, as well as clinical research, innovation and quality. I anticipate and plan exceptional, and unexpected, opportunities for the near and distant future.
Sincerely,
