Anastasia Kunac MD, FACS

Dr. Anastasia Kunac is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona Department of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns, and Acute Care Surgery. She also serves as the Associate Director for the General Surgery Clerkship.
Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Kunac was at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she held numerous academic and clinical leadership positions. These include Associate Program Director and Program of the General Surgery Residency Program, Vice Chair of Education, and Vice Chair of Veteran Affairs. She also served as Co-Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital in Newark and Chief of Surgical Critical Care at the Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System.
An active clinician, educator, and researcher, Kunac has published 45 peer-reviewed articles, serves as principal investigator on eight grant-funded projects, and holds membership in 14 national professional organizations and societies. She brings with her a depth of expertise in surgical education, critical care, and leadership in both academic and clinical settings.
