Department of Surgery Welcomes Dr. Jonathan Rice
The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson Department of Surgery is pleased to welcome Jonathan Rice, MD, PhD, as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Dr. Rice brings a wealth of experience and qualifications to his role. He earned his medical degree in 2011 from the prestigious University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. His training includes a General Surgery residency program at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the Pennsylvania State University - Milton S. Hershey Medical center. Prior to joining Banner University Medical Center, he served as an Assistant Professor at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, and was part of the Baptist Health Medical Group in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Rice's board certification and clinical expertise in various thoracic surgical procedures are complemented by his publications. His dedication to advancing medical knowledge is evident in his 16 publications, three of which he is the first author. He has also shared his insights and findings in 11 presentations, seven of which he is the first author. This commitment to research and sharing knowledge underscores Dr. Rice's dedication to his field and his patients.
Dr. Rice is not only a dedicated surgeon but also a person who values his personal time. He is the new father of a healthy baby boy! He enjoys hiking, listening to music, drinking local coffee, and visiting restaurants. He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and their dog.
