Naren Patel, DPM, AACFAS, is a clinical assistant professor in the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) within the department’s Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.
Dr. Patel is a board-qualified foot and ankle surgeon who specializes in advanced foot and ankle reconstruction. He will serve patients at the Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, Banner – University Medicine North, and Banner – University Medicine South locations.
Dr. Patel’s passion for patient care began at the University of Arizona, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biophysics. He then earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) at Midwestern University Osteopathic School of Medicine.
Following his DPM, he completed a rigorous residency training at Tucson Medical Center/ University Medical Center, where he received specialized training in foot and ankle trauma, adult and pediatric reconstruction, and diabetic limb salvage.
Dr. Patel is honored to be one of only a few podiatric surgeons in the United States who has completed a 12-month surgical fellowship. This advanced surgical training focused on foot and ankle trauma, lower extremity muscle flaps, peripheral nerve surgery, charcot foot, and ankle reconstruction as well as total ankle replacement.
Dr. Naren Patel has lectured at national conferences and has published many articles on topics in diabetic limb salvage, plastic surgery, and wound care in scientific journals. He has a deep interest in furthering the field of foot and ankle surgery through collaborative research.
Dr. Patel enjoys hiking and camping with his wife and dog. He loves to travel and explore new cultures and cuisines. He truly enjoys personal interactions with his patients and creates a treatment plan that is patient-centered.
