Observership/Shadowing Program

The Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson accepts individuals interested in shadowing/observing clinicians from a variety of specialties. This program offers meaningful exposure of the clinical shadowing experience.

The Clinical Shadowing/Observership Program is an opportunity for you to observe physicians from different specialties. Learn what a day looks like for physicians from different specialties: What do they do or see all day long? What is the pace of the work? This is also a chance for you to talk to physicians about how they selected a specialty, how they manage their life-work balance, and how their specialty choice aligns with their goals, values, lifestyle preferences, etc.

This non-credit bearing program is open to individuals over the age of 18 who have completed all components of the shadowing/observership application packet.

International Observers

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson does not allow international students or physicians to participate in the Shadowing/Observership Program unless invited by one of our faculty members.
