Banner University Medical Center – Tucson offers a pediatric surgery services team dedicated to the surgical care of children, from premature infants with congenital and acquired illnesses to school-age children and teenagers. We also offer prenatal consultations to mothers with fetuses with congenital defects.
Our team takes a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to provide comprehensive, individualized care to each patient. We believe strongly in family-centered care and a team approach that includes the patient, parents, primary pediatrician, and other appropriate pediatric sub-specialists.
We have extensive experience in:
- Congenital abnormalities
- Pediatric cancers
- Hernias of the groin and belly button
- Gallblader issues
- Removal of cysts and other masses
To help promote family-centered care, each patient is assigned a dedicated child life specialist to provide educational and emotional support. These professionals work with each family to help pediatric patients understand what will happen at the hospital, familiarize them with medical equipment and the hospital environment, and offer therapeutic techniques, among other services.
A hospital experience can be overwhelming for anyone, especially a child. Our team is dedicated to making that experience as painless as possible for both the patient and their family. We offer minimally invasive approaches as well as combine procedures where possible to minimize hospital stay and recovery times.
