Narong Kulvatunyou, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor with the University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burn and Emergency Surgery. He is also a Program Director of Acute Care Surgery Fellowship and Director of the Surgical Step-down unit.

Dr. Kulvatunyou completed his MD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, General Surgery Residency at New York Methodist-Cornell Hospital, Critical Care fellowship at University of Massachusetts, and Research Fellowship at University of Minnesota.

Research Interests: 
  • The bio-mechanism of blunt traumatic injury, in particular a cervical spine injury
  • The changing role of pigtail catheter in chest wall trauma
  • Pathophysiology and outcome of acute appendicitis
  • Diagnosis and outcome of small bowel obstruction
