UA Health Sciences Colleges Celebrate Reunion Weekend and Homecoming 2015, Oct. 22-24

Tailgating, football, barbecue, a parade and catching up with old friends, new research, developments and opportunities at the University of Arizona: Join us for Reunion Weekend 2015, Oct. 22-24, both on main campus and at the UA Health Sciences campus.

Homecoming activities include honoring the following distinguished alumni of the year from the UA Health Sciences (UAHS) colleges on Friday, Oct. 23. The ceremony will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom South in the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., Tucson:

  • The UA College of Medicine Tucson will honor Francisco A.R. Garcia, MD, MPH, director and chief of the Pima County Health Department and distinguished outreach professor of public health at the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health;
  • The UA College of Nursing will honor Rebecca C. Kuhn, executive vice president for community delivery at Banner Health;
  • The UA College of Pharmacy will honor Harlan Wand, RPh, MBA, executive director of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.

The ceremony is free and open to the public,however, an RSVP to lori.tochihara@al.arizona.edu is required.

Kicking things off early on Sunday, Oct. 18:

5:30 p.m.: Lighting of A Mountain, the top Main Gate Garage, across from the Marriott University, 815 E. Second St.- Celebrate with students, alumni and the Tucson community and experience the ultimate UA tradition that kicks off Homecoming week festivities, the annual Lighting of "A" Mountain by the Bobcats Senior Honorary.Enjoy free food and refreshments. Meet Wilbur and Wilma. Sing "Bear Down" with the Pride of Arizona marching band and UA cheerleaders and watch the "A" glow over Tucson as Homecoming 101 begins!

Friday, Oct. 23.

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Homecoming Barbecue Bash, UA Mall, east side of Old Main, tickets must be purchased.

9 a.m.: UA College of Medicine Tucson: New Approaches to Old Challenges,
UA Cancer Center, Kiewit Auditorium,1515 N. Campbell Ave. Join us for a series of continuing medical education presentations by UA College of Medicine Tucson faculty and alumni with new approaches to old medical challenges. Presentations by the following faculty members:

5-6:30 p.m.: UA College of Pharmacy: Reception & Awards, outdoors near the College of Pharmacy, Drachman Hall, 1295 N. Martin Ave. Reception with finger foods, drinks and plenty of time to visit with classmates and friends. During the reception, the collegewill honordeserving alumni and college friends who have been tapped for awards.

5:30 p.m.: UA College of Nursing: Wildcat Nurse Alumni Barbecue Dinner, College of Nursing Courtyard. Join us for a fun barbeque dinner with live music while you catch up with old friends and make new ones. Families are welcome! Cost: $20/single;$35/Couple.

6 p.m.: UA College of Medicine Tucson: Reunion Reception and Dinner, Tucson Country Club, 2950 E. Camino Principal. Celebrating the Classes of 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010. Cost: $75 per person. Join us at the lovely Tucson Country Club for an evening of reminiscing and renewed friendship, including a wine and beer reception and buffet dinner. (Please note that we are unable to accommodate last-minute registrations or walk-ins. Thank you for your understanding).

8 p.m.: Homecoming Bonfire and Pep Rally - Join UA students, the Pride of Arizona band, Wilbur and Wilma T Wildcat, UA cheerleaders,the 2015 Homecoming court and more at the annual Homecoming pep rally and bonfire, west side of Old Main. Don't miss the crowning of the 2015 Homecoming king and queen. The program begins with a march from Main Gate Bear Down Friday to the Old Main Fountain. The 2015 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at approximately 8:10 p.m., with the bonfire starting IMMEDIATELY after the crowning.

Saturday, Oct. 24
All events are on the UA Mall or at Arizona Stadium.

8 a.m.: UA Alumni Association Wildcat for Life Tailgate Party - Alumni from medicine, pharmacy, public health and nursing are invited to the UAAA Wildcat for Life Tailgate Party on the UA Mall. Food and beverage vendors will be nearby.

9 a.m.: Parade on the Mall

1 p.m.: Homecoming Game - The Wildcats will take on Washington State! Here is the link to find out more about purchasing tickets for the game.
